ROVI organizes the 9th edition of the educational forum Anti-Thrombosis Masterclass, addressed to international experts in the thromboembolism field, into a university environment and including cutting edge presentations related to venous thromboembolism by well respected international opinion leaders. This year’s meeting will be chaired by Dr. Juan V. Llau (Anesthesiologist & Critical Care Department, Clinic University Hospital of Valencia, Spain), who has participated in this activity since 2009, and Dr. Juan Ignacio Arcelus, (General and Digestive Surgery Unit. Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital, Granada, Spain), who also has collaborated in this activity before.
This seminar will have 1 round table,  4 theoretical lectures in the morning and a 3 workshops in the afternoon, with interactive workshops based in case reports in daily clinical practice.

Dr. Juan Vicente Llau

 
Professor Llau is an anaesthesiologist and Section Chief of the Department of Anaesthesia and Post-Surgical Critical Care at the Hospital Clinico Universitario, Valencia, Spain, and is Associated Professor of Human Physiology at the University of Valencia.
 
Professor Llau received his medical degree in Valencia, Spain, in 1986, where he studied anaesthesiology at the Hospital La Fe, becoming an anaesthesiologist in 1993. His research interests are thrombosis and hemostasis and transfusion practice.
 
He is a member of several groups involved in the study of transfusion practice and hemostasis management including the Haemostasis Subcommittee of the European Society of Anaesthesiology (ESA).
 
He is also a member of the board of examiners for the ESA European Diploma of Anaesthesiology. Professor Llau has been the founder and the Vice President of the Transfusion and Haemostasis section of the Spanish Society of Anaesthesiology, and is a reviewer and secretary for REDAR (Revista Española de Anestesiología y Reanimación), the official journal of the Spanish Society of Anaesthesiology. He has published over 150 papers and book chapters relating to transfusion practice and thrombosis and hemostasis. He is the editor of five books on transfusion and haemostasis medicine, the last one entitled “Thromboembolism in Orthopedic Surgery”, published in 2013.

Dr. Juan Ignacio Arcelus

 
Dr. Juan Ignacio Arcelus is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Granada Medical School University and attending surgeon in the Service of General Surgery at the Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital, Granada, Spain.
 
His main research interests include the epidemiology, diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and follow-up of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in medical and surgical patients.
 
For the past 15 years, he has been involved in the RIETE registry. He is also patron of the Spanish Foundation for the Study of Thromboembolism (FUENTE). A member of numerous societies and the Royal Academy of Medicine in Granada, Dr. Arcelus has presented more than 300 abstracts and lectures to international meetings, published more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals, and has written 28 book chapters. He has been panelist in the latest American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) Guidelines for Antithrombotic and Thrombolytic Therapy and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) guidelines on prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolism in cancer patients

Dr. Linas Venclauskas

 
Dr. Venclauskas is associate professor of medicine at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Kaunas, Lithuania. He received his training at Kaunas University of Medicine, Lithuania where he obtained Diploma of medical doctor and qualification of abdominal surgeon.He also attended the training course of “Obesity Sciences and Research Leadership” at European Obesity Academy (EOA2).
 
Since 2005, he works as abdominal surgeon at Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Kaunas Clinics at Surgery Department.
 
Dr. Venclauskas is Membership of several Societies, among them:

• Society of Bariatric Surgeons

Dr. Sabine Eichinger

 
Dr. Eichinger is associate professor of medicine at the Medical University Hospital of Vienna, Austria. She received her training at the Medical University of Vienna and at the Harvard Medical School, in Boston. She has broad experience in thrombosis and haemostasis and is an expert in clinical studies. She is past-chairman of the SSC of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis and served as its Council member. Dr. Eichinger is on the scientific board of the European Hematology Association. She received prestigious academic awards and authored numerous top-ranked scientific articles

Dr. Eleftheria Lefkou

 
Eleftheria Lefkou, received her MD (1997) and PhD (2005) from the Aristotelion University of Thessaloniki, Greece and qualified as a Haematologist in 2007. Between 2008-2010, with a scholarship from the Hellenic Haematology Society, she was sub-specialized in Thrombosis-Haemostasis and Obstetric Haematology, in Guy´s & St. Thomas´ Hospital, London. Since then, she has been working as a Consultant Haematologist in Greece (Thessaloniki and Athens) attending more than 2500 patients per year.

Dr. Anna Falangan

 
Anna Falanga, MD, is Chief of the Department of Immunohematology and Transfusion Medicine and the Thrombosis and Hemostasis Center, at the Hospital Papa Giovanni XXIII, in Bergamo, Italy. Author of more than 250 publications and guest editor of 15 volumes, she is appointed as professor at the School of Hematology, University Bicocca Milan, and at the faculty of Health Engineering, University of Bergamo, Italy. She sits on board of the Council of the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH). In 2009 she received the BACH Investigator Award of the ISTH, and in 2015 the “Harold R. Roberts Medal 2015” of the SSC of ISTH.

Alessandro Squizzato, MD PhD, is Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Insubria, Varese, Italy. Founder and member of the ‘Research Center on Thromboembolic Disorders and Antithrombotic Therapies’, University of Insubria, Varese, Italy, of the TRIP (Thrombosis Research Italian Partnership), and of the GRADE (Grades of Recommendation, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation)-Dispute Working Group.
